The festive season is well and truly upon us but, when it comes to deciding when is best to put up the Christmas tree, it's a topic that can severely divide people. Emma, known as Fearless In Her 40s on TikTok, has already got her decorations up and her reasoning might just surprise you.
Emma recently explained why she decided to get out the decorations on November 1. While some might argue it's too early for Christmas cheer, she had her own reasons and quickly found support from her followers who celebrated her decision.
In the past, she confessed to being against early decorating, but something changed her mind. She discovered there are benefits to getting the tree up early, and there are plenty of ways to keep your tree fresh too.
- I tried lattes from 8 main coffee shops the worst 1 was nauseating
- 'My baby kicked inside me, then my rogue womb chopped his hand off'
Speaking from Merseyside, Emma said: "My Christmas tree went up on November 1 so, the question is, when is it too early to erect the Christmas tree? I know that the early arrival of Christmas trees really bothers some people.
"That used to be me so, believe me, I get it. The world is feeling a little bit dull at the moment, and there is lots going on in it, so the arrival of a Christmas tree just brings a little bit of sparkle, a little bit of light and a little bit of joy to our lives. Don't you think?
"For those who have got their trees up, well done to you. And, do you know what? Let's see what they look like."
Since Emma shared the clip, numerous individuals have weighed in with their opinions. Many were eager to applaud her decision.
One person remarked: "Agree, people are trying to be happy. Get your trees up." Another chimed in with: "I love it. I always put it up on November 1."
A third responded: "It's never too early. I think with what's going on in this sad world today, we all need some joy. Christmas brings so much joy to a lot of people."
Meanwhile, a fourth also noted: "We put ours up the first weekend of December. If it makes you happy, and brings you joy, then put it up whenever you feel like it."
Someone else also weighed in with: "Traditional is 12 days before, and 12 days after, but putting it up early is great. We live in bad times, and anything to make it better helps."
Despite the potential for disagreement on this matter, there aren't any strict guidelines regarding when Christmas trees should go up. People can erect them whenever they believe is most suitable, though December 1 remains a popular choice.
By tradition, Christmas trees are erected on the opening day of Advent, which falls on the fourth Sunday prior to Christmas. Nevertheless, some people prefer to decorate nearer to Christmas itself.
Other customs involve the opening week of December, the first Friday following Thanksgiving (in America) and even Christmas Eve. Each person has their own approach when it comes to tree installation.
